Neighbor 2 Neighbor Volunteer Policy

The following offenses will cause a person to be ineligible to volunteer at the Pendleton Warming Station or the Pendleton Day Center, unless the Board of Directors gives a unanimous decision in writing in favor of the person becoming a volunteer:
- Conviction of a Measure 11 offense (Murder, rape, robbery, serious assault, sexual offenses (which includes child pornography).
- Conviction or arrest for the following offenses:
- Assaults or person to person offenses, as defined by Oregon Law
- Non-violent felony offenses less than 5 years old calculated from conviction date or, if incarcerated for the crime, from release date
- Non-violent felonies greater than 5 years old with more recent convictions
- Repeated convictions for minor crimes
- Drug offenses less than five years old. (To be considered, volunteer must supply letter from an A&D provider or a certificate of completion of an approved A&D treatment program.)
Other potentially disqualifying factors: Termination from employment or volunteer activities for ethical violations, or for demonstrated inability to get along with fellow employees, customers, or members of the public. N2N welcomes those who formerly stayed as guests at the Pendleton Warming Station to serve as volunteers. However, to be eligible, prospective volunteers must be currently out of shelter and must not have accessed services for at least one year. Individual exceptions to this guideline must be approved by the N2N Board of Directors.
